I have a 2.25 Petrol 1972 SIII and after 3 or so months in storage it's refusing to start. I've charged the battery but after one brief burst of life it doesn't seem to want to know.
As far as I can tell, the problem is that there is no fuel in the carburettor - I've pulled the air hose off and had a look in the top, and when I pump the acclerator there is no fuel (as far as I can see) coming out of the fuel advance jet.
I have tried priming the fuel pump (gave it about 9 pumps) to no avail. I am assuming that this is a shagged-fuel-pump problem but I'd like to know if there are any other suggestions/tips/methods of checking, to see whether it is the fuel pump that is at fault, and if it is, whether it's better to fix the old pump or invest in a new one.
Cheers.
