Not sure about subject line now - but here goes. Been offered a 1996 Suzuki Vitara - that's sad but seems very cheap 500GBP - it needs new engine so I am told. Looked but had no luck. Is there any other diesel engine which may fit? Any other thoughts? It's a diesel automatic.

At that price, with no motor, I hope the shell is pristine.
Those motors are fairly light compared to their bigger bretheren - torque isn't such a big requirement.

IIRC the diesel is a Peugeot unit, as others have said even in running order it's only worth £500. Enginless Vitara shells are quite common as the 1.6 petrol can be fitted to SJ413.
my area glass rep just got a minta of ebay tax and tested low miles and an engine for £600

I know nothing about Peugeot's and how the 1.9's differ from the 2.3's
