Can someone tell me if this is model has an "Interference engine " In other words will the engine get damaged if the timing belt breaks? What is the manufacturers recommendation regarding when the timing belt should be replaced. Does anyone know that a dealer might charge for the new belt? Thanks

According to Gates timing belt web site, the 1998 LS has an interference engine, with a manufacturer's recommended timing belt replacement interval of 90,000 miles.
VVT-i means "don't let the belt break!"
