2000 ES 300 Failed Safty Test at Virginia

Because the driver side mirror was not clear enough. The mirror has some blue color and it is supposed to be some kind of feature. Soon after we purchased the car, the color started fading and now it failed the safty test which is required in VA. The dealer told us they can only replace the whole system for $600. Is there anything that we can do about it? Can we complain with Lexus or is there any other ways to have this fixed with a smaller price tag?

Thanks,

----Ryan

why did it fail the safety exam? Did the dealer do the safety exam?

This sounds fishy..go to another inspection station.
