Looking to buy question

I've been looking at some older Lexus models and I see quite a few in the 1992-1996 range around here with odometer readings of about

126,000 miles. Seems like a lot of them lately. I was wondering how easy or likely it is sellers on CraigsList are "fixing" the odometers. Is this something that is hard to do and how would someone check for it?

TIA

Vehicles with electronic odometers are more difficult to tamper than vehicles with mechanical odometers. IIRC, Lexus didn't implement electronic odometers in 1996.

A mechanical odometer that has been tampered with may have unevenly aligned numbers.

I had a 94 ES that had an electronic odometer.

My 1995 SC300 has an electronic odometer. It has 93,000 miles on it. I've owned it since 1998 when I bought it with 42,000 miles.

I guess I need to drive it more. It is fun to drive, but the sticky tires are expensive and don't last too long. This one has a 5 speed manual transmission too. According to the numbers posted either here or on a Lexus web site, fewer than 500 SC300s were made in 1995 with a manual transmission.
