Air conditioning removing, and putting back in again

My Fiat Coupe 20VT will be going to powerfiat for a new engine in two weeks, after checking my list of receipts for the car, I noticed that the owner had spent =A3600 for a complete air-con overhaul with completely new parts. When I asked the garage briefly at the time about what would happen with the air-con, he said it would just need re-gassing afterwoulds.

How easy will it be for him to remove and put back the airconditioning pipes, compressor etc, without creating a leak in the system, that could manifest itself later? is it just a case of getting it checked by an air-con specialist for leaks with dye in the system after?

Cheers

Not rocket science - it's only a few pipes at the end of the day.

Leak test and refil and it'll be sorted.

you need an air con guy to come and remove the gas in the first place letting it go out in to the atmos might be illegal

In that case, our 156 has been illegal for 12 months now.... it appears to have lost all its gas.

Oh well, have to call out a mobile aircon guy tomorrow, I suppose.

But I thought the gas these days was a lot less harmful to the environment compared with the old type?

*Deliberately* letting it out.

Same as if your sump cracks and oil goes all over the road..
