Another garage story.

Round this part of London, half decent local garages have all but disappeared. Including a very good BMW and Merc specialist, who were always packed out.

But there is one family owned long standing one I'll use for things I can't do myself, on the old Rover. My daily driver gets serviced at a specialist, some way off.

This time it was to have the leaking sump gasket changed. Last time, fit a new handbrake cable. And they always seem to break something else. With the handbrake cable, it was the rear fog light switch. On the dash. ;-)

This time, the interior door handle. And the alternator no longer charging.

Alternator was easy. The small wire had pulled off its spade terminal when they raised the engine (or whatever) and put back on the wrong terminal of two. Easily fixed. Although you'd have thought they'd notice the warning light not going out.

The door handle they'd attempted to fix (by the glue on it) If they'd asked, I'd have said 'don't bother as I have spares'. But they'd managed to break or loose quite a few other bits when they uncased the door. And I can be certain they did, as the broken off parts of the handle were missing when I uncased the door - as were the two circlips that locate the handle. How can I be so sure? I had the casing off to clean the window switch contacts in the summer, so know all the fixings were intact then.
