Battery trickle and float charger.

My local Lidl (Tooting) have these back in stock at 4.99. It's a wall wart with crock clips on the output leads. Max output 0.6 amp with auto switching to float setting. Manual selection of 12,6 or 2 volt batteries. Short circuit and wrong polarity protected. Badged Tronic.

It's not a float, it's a trickle. Voltage is higher than I'd want, and there's no termperature compensation.

Not a bad PSU to add your own reg though...

Here's an OCR of the appropriate page from the manual:-

DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION This automatic compact charger will charge all 2V, 6V and l2V lead acid storage batteries automatically. Once the battery on charge reaches the final charging voltage, the charging current is reduced thus protecting the battery from becoming overcharged.

Thanks to fully electronic voltage and current limiting, the battery on charge is always kept at an optimal level of charge, which at the same time prevents dangerous over- charging and the associated formation of explosive gas. A safety circuit ensures that no voltage is present on the terminal clips until a battery has been connected to the charger.

The charger is distinguished by the following characteristics:

- short circuit protection and protection against connecting the wrong way round

- constant final charging voltage

- charging will not take place if the battery is connectedthe wrong way round

- charging will only take place if the battery is correctly connected

- optical indication of charging process and incorrect connection
