I doubt it. A tuning guy I know gets through loads of plugs. He always fits NGK now. Over years he's found them more reliable and consistant than other makes. Poor new ones are rare. In the past using other makes, every few weeks he could have a couple of boxes of reject plugs to send back to his wholesaler for exchange. Since using NGK exclusively, he thinks he's unlucky if he finds one bad plug in 2 or 3 months. :-) Mike.

Worth a lot actually :-) I had never actually heard of NGK plugs until I got these - but then I do have very little experience with motor maintenance (although I'm desperate to gain knowledge :-( )

I've used NGK on various cars and never had a problem. They're also OEM plugs for my BMW - those and Bosch.

Personnally in order of preference i would use the OEM Motorcraft plat's, then NGK, then Bosch. Avoid Champion.

You'll find the motorcraft ones cheaper than you can buy the others at the likes of Halfrauds anyhow. Change them every 30k.

Regap which ever brand you have to 1mm, *not* the 1.3mm they come at, and you'll have less chance of misfires and knackering the HT leads prematurely. I would change these every 60k at the very least, and definately only use the genuine Ford ones.

You'd have to be performing serious engine mods to make exotic plugs worthwhile. In real life, they don't make the slightest bit of difference. Most issues with plugs are down to incorrect gapping.

Official 'Golden Lodge' plugs for Alfa Romeos are in the region of £20 each, but Bosch work just as well (however they need replacing twice as often) for £16 / set (remember I need 8 of them.....)
