The brakes on my Proton Wira (2002, 1500cc) are juddering, especially when braking from speed. Despite the age of the car and low mileage (15,000) my brother-in-law, who used to be a mechanic, tells me that I probably need new front discs and pads. Yes?

Also, to help prevent the new discs going the way of the old, try holding your car with the handbrake when at rest (especially when the brakes are hot), rather than holding it on the footbrake.
yes, new pads and discs will cure 'most' brake judder problems.
