Calling all VX Carlton Experts - Elec Window Fault

Jun 07, 2004 2 Replies

Dear all,

I have a J Plate 2.0i Diplomat (Auto) Carlton. Recently, the drivers and one of rear elecric windows stopped working - this boiled down to a knackered controllers so replacement from scrappy did the job.

Now, the windows only work when key in ignition. Used to be able to opperate the windows with the Drivers door open but this now does nothing. (Still can wind up all windows from door lock)

All fuses appear OK, and drivers door pillar switch also OK (internal light and lights buzzer fine).

Any ideas as to what has faulted ?

Thanks,

Andy.

Check the wiring loom from the drivers door to the body for breaks/short-circuit.

The windows on my old cav used to work with the door open, but my vectra needs the key turned in the ignition. The cav manual mentions opening the door, wheras the vectra one does not.

My guess is that your new controllers have different functionality.

To see if the door switch is faulty / not connected, turn the ignition on, then off. The light on the window switch will be lit, and the windows will work. Open and close the driver's door. The light will go out and the windows will go inactive if the switch is wired up.
