J-reg, '92 I think, 1600 petrol. The passenger window goes down/up OK but stops every couple of inches before moving again. Is this likely to be something like a tooth dropped off one of the gears in the winding mechanism, or could it be something else? I've got to fix it (replace with manual or fix electric) as the Young Master, aged 4 1/2, sits in that seat. I hope it's not expensive!

Quite possibly. You're not going to know until you get the door card off.
As for cost? I got a complete replacement mechanism, including motor, off Ebay for my Rover 600 for £5 plus postage.
