Citroen AX aligning cylinder head and engine

Oct 16, 2005 3 Replies

Hi Group,

I recently swapped the cylinder head of a citroen AX 1000cc. However after reattaching the cam belt and then turning the engine by spanner I noticed I forgotten to retighten the tensioner. I think the bottom of the belt jumped off the engine side. I think therefore the cams and the engine aren't alighned as they should be.

How can I realign the two again?

the same way you aligned them before taking the cylinder head off, you did align them before you took the head off ?

Ok now. I now need to look for the timing mark at the gearbox. To take it off I just aligned the mark on the cam sprocket which is what it says in the book.

exactly what model of engine, some use a cranked rod inserted into a hole in the flywheel for tdc
