Hi - again :)
Vie posted questions relating to this problem here before, so I'll just give a brief outline of the problem
Car : Vx Corsa 1998 1.7D
Problem, whenever the driver gets on the power there is a sharp jerk and a thump, almost like there is slack in the transmission, as soon as I mention it to anyone they say Engine mounts.
So I changed them!
No Change....
It has since been suggested to me that the it could be the CV joints, or clutch springs, however when I drive around on full lock in a carpark I get no clicking crunching noise
Other people have been more supportive of the clutch idea.
This is beginning to sit well with me, the car had the clutch changed at about 50k, due to a shagged out release bearing, the guy ( a now ex-friend) had never changed a clutch before but was guided by his father ( time served mechanic) and another able mechanic. As I recall, the two clutches they bought initially was wrong, and then they said that the car had the wrong clutch in, in the first place.
I was a little suspect of this as far as I knew the car had never had a clutch changes since new, but I'm a little suspect of the mileage, and it worked at the time so I didn't really care.
I THINK the replacement unit was manufactured by SACHS[?]
So I think I am going to replace the clutch again, despite no slip, car now
105'000k at a independent clutch specialist, I have been considering supplying the clutch myself from Vx Main Agent then I know its at least half decent and a chance of being the correct item?
any opinions?
