A mate has been told that he needs a new gearbox on his 50000 mile Corsa. He was having gear selection problems and had the linkage replaced recently. Anyone heared of gearbox failures or is the dealer lifting his leg? Car has been regularly serviced by a major vauxhall dealer based in and around Kings Lynn. The same one that's telling him he needs a new gearbox. Dave

If it's been used mainly round town, it's feasible for the gearbox to be shagged basically because the synchromeshes in 1,2 and 3 gear get far more hammering than a car in normal use.
