DVD Players Maybe OT

I have just put in a DVD player for the kids as we are in the car a lot. its a Goodmans from Argos that goes over the headrests.

Problem is the audio output is that low they cannot hear it on the motorway, so I have plugged the supplied phonos into the rear of the stereo (Kenwood

579R) It doesn't have an AUX on screen just CD and tuner. I can hear it through the speakers when the cd is paused fine no problems. But it still isnt loud and the Kenwood volume does nothing. Even when the DVD players volume is at full its just about hearable with no way of getting the volume up. Is there anything I can do to increase the volume or is the player £129 just crap.

Its in the right slot on the player, I have tried it in the earphones socket and the audio output socket with no difference. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same unit and it's not that quiet.

The phonos on the rear of the Kenwood actually line level pre-OUTPUTS for connection to an amplifier from the head unit. Didn't the lack of an AUX option give a clue?

No it didn't. I am not an expert where these things are concerned. I haven't a clue really but thought the phono in would amplify the sound. Is there a way round it then? I swapped the DVD player today for the twin screen Goodman's and still it isnt loud enough in the car. I need the sound to go through the speakers and be amplified. Either that or buy a new stereo.

Thanks for the advice

It's not the DVD player , you've plugged it into the preamp out, there is no aux in on a 579, you could replace the CD in with the DVD in or a different Head Unit will solve it.
