dvd player

I can't believe that the new F150 that i just purchased doesn't allow me to play my dvd's. It's a single disk changer and will not allow me to play mp3. In this day and age you would think that a vehicle manufacturer would make dvd-mp3 standard on all its vehicles. I can;t even use my iriver mp3 player either.

What's a "single disk changer" ???

Ya gotta pay extra; that's the way it is/was/always will be. Even then; what you get is never exactly what you want.

If you got a decent deal; change it out yourself.

I checked out

They show

AM/FM stereo/clock

AM/FM stereo/clock/single CD player << yours??

AM/FM stereo/clock/ cassette/single CD player << why ??

AM/FM stereo/6-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3 capability (includes speed-compensated volume control)

AM/FM stereo/6-disc in-dash CD changer with Audiophile™ Sound System with mp3 capability. (includes subwoofer and speed-compensated volume control)

Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System (SuperCrew only; not available with power moonroof)

DVD Electrical Prep Package — allows aftermarket installation of a Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System (SuperCrew only; requires Overhead Rail Storage System; not available with power moonroof or Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System)

You may be able to swing one of the above out of Ford; but you'll do better price/feature/performance in aftermarket stuff. Trust me -- been dere, dun dat.

There are many vendors for mobile audio/video ; but I like

. Their online selector system is excellent.

Are you looking to play DVD's or CD's ?

Several CD devices are available, from single disk to 6 disk changer with a couple that are MP# capable.

There is also a DVD player available for the super cab with the overhead rail ascessory system installed. The overhead DVD system is designed for rear seat viewing.

My only complaint with my new F150 lariet is the much less than published gas milage (I am getting 9.6/gal and am driving as light footed as possible).

My super crew has a single cd player, no tape deck. No jack to plug in my iriver mp3 player. Even my harley has a jack for the mp3 player which i use constantly. Since there is no tape deck i can't use an adapter to play my mp3 player in my NEW truck. I didn't order the truck but bought it during the 'family plan' deals. Anyway, my bank account won't allow me to do much but get a liner and a cap for now.

Well, to my way of thinking a dvd is a digital versatile disk: ie. it will play various types of formats--video, mp3, wma, etc. And since you can get about 8 hours of music on a disk formatted as mp3 to me that is a dvd disk. Not necessarily video.

I have only 300 mi. on my new truck but i can tell that it is getting better gas mileage than my old 5 litre Ford Explorer.

Get a radio transmitter type adaptor for your MP3 player. They are about $25 and your local electonics outlet (Future Shop, Best Buy, Fry's etc.) will have them. They transmit to the unused bandwidth at the bottom of your FM tuner.

Sir/mam don't get defensive....if you don't like the answers then please don't shoot the messenger. I have only 163 miles on my odometer.. 7 was there on the lot. and buba, I could care less about your explorer !!!! know what I mean jelly burrito ? When you bought, did you ask the sales bum about the "CD" (Compact Disk) player capabilities ?

IF YOU CAN RIP AND BURN DVD's THEN YOU CAN RIP AND BURN CD's IN THE ISO STANDARD.

If I were you I would save and purchase a full set of shop manuals and a quality OBD scanner and read the owners manual before bitching about how "one would have thought" ! Before long you will be crying "I should have thought" You overpaid (in my opinion we all are subsidizing socialist unions) but you did purchase a very good vehicle.

I went to E-Bay and bought a brand new 6cd in dash radio, It is fantastic. It plays all my cd's, even the mp3 downloads I burned. The new radio cost me $185.00 with shipping, 15 minute installation. Ford wants over $700.00 for this radio.

I also bought an Inport usb recorder from TigerDirect.com, I can make cd's from any source.
