Still controversial if this is realistic. How long will batteries last? Will the performance of batteries deteriorate linearly over time? Is it really more efficient?
Electric motors are two or three times more efficient then car engines, but what if the electricity are generated by a car engine as in a hybrid car? Then the conversion is just an energy zapper. Though hybrid cars can recover energy from braking, but that might only work in city/urban traffic. What then about motorway driving???
Remember those methanol batteries which a couple of years ago were reported to become the new laptop batteries. You didn't have to spend time charging them, just top up with methanol and off you go. But this story has all been put to sleep. Wot 'appened?
