Fiesta 2 Switches?

Hi

I have 2 switches on my Fiesta that I am unsure of...

They are both small buttons on the dash (above the stereo)

they look like these..

going by the actual auctions i think the first one is Rear fog lights- my car has 2 blank buttons - not sure what they are for..but i dont have any FRONT fog lights...

i put the rear fog light switch on...i notice a red light comes on at the back (on the drivers side) the same part on the left side is a white light - when does this come on? when i break/reverse? (its a tiny bit brighter than the normal red lights - is this right? i guess u put this on in heavy fog)

the other looks like a rear window heater - in a perfect world i put put this on and hot air would heat up my back window...but nowt happens (when the fan is on) - is mine broke or perhaps my car doesnt have it?

i have some vents at the back behind the seats - they look like heater vents or they could be speaker vents! (more likely speaker...i havent had time to check it out properly as i just thought about it now...

thanks.

First is REAR fog lights. On a front fog light swith the horizontal lines are slanted down. Second is a rear window demister. THe white one is the reverse light. It comes on when you select reverse. The red one on the other side is the fog light. You put it on when its foggy. Foggy being defined as when clear visibility is less than 100 yards AFAIR. Foggy is NOT "Oh its a bit misty". If the vents are horizontal alongside where the parcelshelf is then they're speakers. If they're vertical on the side of the car then they're fresh air vents.

1= rear fog light

2= heated rear screen.... not heated by "hot air" been blown to screen It is heated by the elements in the glass..... Fiestas give trouble with the copper contacts between the tailgate/back panel

I'm very suprised you don't know what these buttons mean. I assume you've just recently passed your test? If your driving instructor was any good he would have told you what all the various switches in the car does. These ones are the same symbols which are on pretty much all cars.

Your are right. Rear fogs. As for the other two buttons, well I have blank buttons in my car too, they are for various things which are on higher spec versions of my car, such as heated front windscreen. If there are two buttons that might be where the A/C and air recirculation buttons would go, assuming you don't have it.

Right. That's your rear fog light

the same part on the left side is a white light -

Yes this is your reversing light and illuminates whenever you put the car into reverse gear.

That's correct yes. Bascially it's so that in heavy fog people can see you and don't end up running into the back of you. Remember to turn it off when the fog clears as it can dazzle or distract following drivers.

If your car is like most others it won't have any vents near the back window. (My new Fiesta doesn't). Look at your back window, you will see several lines going across it, these are heating elements, you push that button and these heat up and clear your rear windscreen.

Try it whenever it is misted up. You should be able to see them working within 2 or 3 minutes. If they appear to be having no effect then you might have a fault there and should take your car in for repair. Having a rear screen you can't demist isn't very safe.

If they have lots of little holes then they are speakers. In general you don't find air vents in the back of cheaper cars.

just had a look...

on the drivers side (at the back windows) there is a wire and a metal connection to the window...on the left side the connection is also there (altho there is no wire that goes back inside the body of the car) but it is broken off on one side...any idea how much this will cost to fix?
