this 1990, diesel van, has gone thru one belt appx. every nine months. I fit a new one, tensions good. Months later it squeals, tighten it up some more, months later it's starting to part and I need a new belt.

it's the actual pulley either the drive one or the alternator one clean them up and see what happens alternatively, it's also be know to happen when the alternator has been moved and refitted without a spacer or whatever and sits slightly out of line with the rest of the pulleys, so it get screwed easier
How about rubbing all of the pulleys down with some coarse sand paper, to remove any glaze?
