Golf Carburettor

Looks like the Solex / Zenith 2B2 (or 2B5) carb on the s**te old Golf has given up the ghost.

I'm pretty convinced that it's the auto-choke mechanism that's giving me problems.

I seem to have 3 or 4 options to sort this.....

  1. Get a new auto-choke mechanism - if one is available
  2. Convert to manual choke - again, if one is available
  3. Order a new 2B2/5 carb
  4. Order a Weber replacement

I've not had any luck getting hold of a carb from the VW breakers, and Eurocarparts have no stock of the 2B2 or 5, so if I'm going down the replacement route, it's going to be a Weber - nice, but expensive.

So - anyone know if there's manual conversions or replacement auto-choke bits available? - or is it possible to rebuild my auto-choke?

Any advice appreciated - the missus is hassling me to fix it.

Cheers,

Swap out the auto choke for a manual - Halfrauds sell 'em to fit most carbs. I hate auto chokes 'coz they are sooo unreliable!
