Partner's key for her 'N' reg' Espero GLXI was damaged. A locksmith has cut a replacement key but it won't start the car. Apparently the original key had a chip in it to operate an imobiliser circuit. Is there a way to get round this problem? e.g. how can one get a replacement key at reasonable cost or is it possible to by-pass the imobiliser? Any helpful suggestions? (car is in Nottingham BTW.) Thanks

Remove chip from old key and place in new one. I guess any posting about by-passing immobilers could be construed as a something criminal :-))
A "rough" way to do this for now might be to keep the old key on the keyring until you can get it sorted properly :-}
