Recently my Mondeo (98) has started to hover around 1300-1500 revs when its first started, and usually its around 1000 rpm - what's would cause this to happen and should I get the problem fixed?

Possibly the beginnings of a sticky ISCV and /or dirty throttle body. Would be worth cleaning them and then allowing the ecu to relearn idle parameters.
