Injector rebuilders - recommendations?

All,

Anybody got any recommendations (or avoid-like-the-plagues - my email addy is good) for companies rebuilding petrol injectors?

They're Lucas CU14 low-impedance from a Saab 900, if it makes any difference. They're dripping a bit when closed, and after nearly 200k probably well overdue for a bit of R&R.

I've got a spare set to lob in as a stopgap (slightly lower fuel rating, but eminently usable), so a week or two postal service is fine.

Ta.

Dephi Diesel Service centers get a good review in the Ford forums for reconning TDCi injectors..

Since this is for neither a diesel nor a Delphi system...

But thanks - I'll drop 'em a mail.

I went for a ride out today and I think the fresh air got to me.

Yes

They were done by return. Report supplied and certainly improved mine. I spoke to the boss before sending and he seemed to be fairly gened up.

I bought a set of refurb injectors from them. No probs, spoke to a nice friendly chap on phone & fast postage.

Thanks to you and to Redwood for suggesting these guys.

I posted mine off on Sat AM of the Bank Holiday weekend, and got in on Weds to find a "Need a sig, but you weren't in" card from the postie.

Couldn't be, could it? It bloody well was...

I've just collected 'em from the post office, so not had a chance to fit yet, but according to the report on the the four, three failed the leak test, three had "fair" static spray, and two "fair" dynamic spray, whilst the delivery varied from 72-75cc in 30sec at 50% duty. They're nominally

290cc rated, so 75 is about what they should be doing.

After an apparent 70min ultrasonic clean, all are giving the same delivery and all are good.

For less than £55 including postage both ways, I'm delighted.

I have now.

The difference is astonishing. Not so much at the top end - although I've not taken it for a proper run yet, but the low-end tractability and flexibility are greatly improved.

One of the best £50s I've spent on car maintenance in a long while.

Yes - I remember that when I replaced the SD1 ones years ago - were on special offer so about the same cost as having them cleaned properly.

Some say you can do the same by using injector cleaner in the petrol - but I've always thought of this as snake oil.

Not a chance. Mine spent 70 mins in an ultrasonic cleaning machine, being operated whilst cleaned, and had the seals & filters replaced with new. If they'd been a different type, they'd have had the pintles and/or top hoses replaced.

No way can a bit of homeopathic goop do the same job...
