Whats the best way to remove an ink splodge from a car seat? Can I do this myself or do I need to call in an external firm, and how much is this likely to cost?
Thanks

change the seats
what kind of ink?
Not sure but looks like one of the kids had dropped a bic pen.
Can this be cleaned up?
Try propanol [propan-1-ol], basically the missus nail varnish remover...
try it in an inconspicuous area firs to see what happens to your fabric, worked on my computer chair,
i used bog roll and wetted the paper first and dabbed the ink, changing the paper regularly, and dabbin with a dry bit every now and agian to stop the slodge speading, kept at it or a while, faded to insignificance... well actually was left with a clean patch.....
what on earth will the inlaws thing
one other thing, do it when you can leave the car for a while with the heater on and you out of it, otherwise youll be high as a kite!
Nail varnish removers normally lanolised acetone, be very carefull , it dissolves lots of fabrics
clear meths/surgical spririt works pretty well as well. The main trick is not to let it spread the ink.
IMX can be either, but acetone will do same job, hell WD40 will, but its perhaps not great on fabric !
the chemist wouldnt sell me IMS, and mineralised meths stains
Yep, the lanolin in some nail varnish remover stains as well (but it's usefull for dealing with expanding foam crises)
Isopropyl alcohol is available without stain & it's almost as good (Carbon tetrachlorides best but nobody'll sell you that nowadays)
If you want to avoid solvents, you can make a paste with washing powder and water and put that directly on the stain... then dabbing with paper (as suggested elsewhere) and lots of water to rinse.
