I jumped into the 54-Reg Kia Rio yesterday morning and got about 6 miles into a journey when the engine started to make a lovely rattling noise and I noticed I had lost some power. The noise followed the revs, but there's no engine missing. I carefully detoured to the local Kia dealership and made my way home in a loan car.
In my old Capri-fixing days I would have said 'noisy or stuck tappet', (and even then I'd probably be wrong!), but since I've not tinkered with engines for about 20 years could I just ask for some pure speculation from the experts - or even a heads up if this is a common problem with the Rio engine. Likely costs would also be apprciated.
I know it could be quite a few different things, but speculate away!
