Just acquired a Suzuki Carry 1.3 van on a 54 plate.
The handbook says only jump start, don't push or tow start because of risk of damage to the cat. OK, I can see that if you towed it a long way before it fired you could flood the cat with petrol. Or if you were tow starting with a completely dead battery you might not have enough volts to run the ECU, etc. But surely a short push or tow with some battery would be OK? Or am I missing something?
Handbook also says don't tow with drive wheels on the ground because of risk of damage to transmission. Now, I believe that automatics can overheat their oil when towed, because the oil circulation isn't normal. But is there really any risk to a manual? I'm not thinking about hundreds of miles at 60 mph, just a few miles at 30.
TIA
