Little OT but i know your good for advice!

Im hoping to move to Germany in the summer, E Germany, i love it there.

Anyway im hoping to take my 94 520i BMW

I will be driving back often, a few times a year, soooo could i keep getting it MOTd here? I checked up on the DVLA, for a temp export or perm....

I could take my 525i 96 Touring, but i prefer the looks and handling of the other, but i miss the big diff in power and torque (and hey i got used to the auto!!!!!)

I have shown my MOT cert etc many times, when passing both ways over the German/Polish borders so i know that in iteself is no prob

cheers

There's nothing to stop you getting any car MOT'd here. However, when you permanently export a car, you have to surrender the registration document. Once you register the car in another country, an MOT from this country won't be much use. Some countries on the mainland won't register RHD vehicles.

Your best bet is probably to keep it UK registered. Make sure you have an insurance policy that doesn't limit the number of days you are covered on the mainland.

On a completely off topic note from me too. What do you plan to doworkwise when you get there? I take it you speak German? I would like to move to Europe myself but I'm stumped as to what the hell I would do once there.

They want us to think we're already in Europe. This is, of course, crap - as long as HMR&C continue to 'police' the border with the mainland the way they do.
