Mk 1800 Mondeo Petrol, started and ran for about 1/2 second then died, girlfriend then cranked it over immediately - sounds like it has no complression, suspected broken timing belt but removing the top cover shows it's still intact but seems unusually loose . . . I've cranked it over by hand a couple of revs and the belt shows no damage but had not had time to inspect further, suspect belt tensioner and slipping some teeth perhaps, engine has 130K on it with normal scheduled belt changes
- are the tensioners something that fail ? I'm assuming it's an interference engine and may well be beyond economic repair but I'll check the timing before concluding anything . . .
