MOT Test - Mirrors

Continuing a recent MOT-oriented thread:

The motors on both my adjustable wing mirrors are a PITA and regularly stick so although the mirrors are left giving a good rear view, they do not 'adjust' - is that likely to be an MOT issue?

Thanks.

Reason for rejection:

"not clearly visible from the drivers seat, or incapable of being adjusted to be clearly visible from the drivers seat"

IANAE, but I would think you will be OK.

Most mirrors, whether electric or manual adjust, can still have the glass moved from outside of the vehicle. I'm pretty sure that is all that is needed. I certainly know of cars that have passed where the mechanical adjustment inside the car is not connected to the mirror.

Basically, offside wing mirror, interior mirror.

It'll be adjustable without the motor, assuming the driver's window can be opened...

Some ignorant git tried to manually adjust my electric mirror to check their retarded face and snapped the little plastic rack & pinion mechanism inside (inside the mirror, not their face). Probably best not to force it too much.

Linker3000 was thinking very hard :

It is extremely unlikely the would even spot the lack of function, providing the mirrors were at sensible settings.
