My Mum knows more about Fiestas than Polar do!!!!

Sent the old dear to Polar for a CTS sensor for her Fiesta 1.1 classic. Before going she rang them to confirm they had one in. After 25mins on the phone giving them the part number off it, describing it to them, giving them the registration of the car, "Oh its a silver fiesta?" "yes", she says. "yes we have one for it". mum "are you sure, I'm having to get a lift across town for it". him "I'll double check.....yes we have one here". Mum goes across town, he shows her a long thin brass strip. mum "thats not the right thing" him "yes it is" mum "no, this is the thing in my pocket, here, look" him "Thats not off a Fiesta" mum "Course its off a fiesta, I watched my son take the damned thing off!" "Have you got one of these, whatever it is"? him, checking on computer, "its off a Granada, we dont have one in, I can get one for tomorrow."

Why do they bother having computer systems at these places if they cant put the right info into them?

Rant over,

Tony.

Because though it may be less effective than an old codger who knows what he's doing, and is arguably less efficient than an old codger who knows what he's doing it's less expensive than an old codger who knows what he's doing.

Sounds like the LandRover dealer I used to go to. Retired ex mechanic in stores, brilliant. Replaced by computer and 2 young blokes with certificates in store keeping, CRAP.

When I was driving around in Avengers and Sunbeams I used to go to local main drealers aprts departments ( when I had to but new as opposed to scarmbling around in scrappies) the guys there knew exactly what was what and where everything in the bins was ....That was before the new designed parts depts came in ...all chrome and glass and not a trace of muck to be seen...
