New discs

Got some new ate discs for a mk4 golf fronts and they're covered in this weird grey primer looking film which it says not to remove.

I got my discs and pads all fitted to the front no problems but a seriously seized discs from lack of service no doubt from previous owner.

Took it for a little drive after and had a little scare with the lack of braking nothing seriouis just a noticeable lack of bite. After 10 minutes of normal driving the coating came off with braking revealing the metal of the disc. Never seen these type of discs before. Although saves on all the brake cleaner getting the old off the conventional style ones.

Next weekend I'll do the rear brake pads and discs. I hope there as simple, only difference I can see from the haynes is the hanb brake attachment thing and the pistons is harder to push in. (have a rewind tool handy)

Then weekend after that is the antiroll bar bushes ... wonders if anyone is still awake :)

Just 100 miles for bedding in now. Feel quite chuffed doing it myself and doing a good job and saving some money for once.

I tried to go for a not-too-unbelievable name. Surprisingly hard to think of one.

The master though has to e somebody I worked with who persuaded a fellow apprentice to ask his Alfa dealer for a quote for 'piston return springs'.

After all - the bang makes them go down, *something* must push them back up for next time...
