New discs and pads - poor braking performace!

Oct 31, 2003 3 Replies

All,

I have just had my front discs and pads on my Ka2 replaced at a Ford main dealer. However, upon leaving the dealer the braking performace is now extremely poor, and in fact I would say it's quite dangerous! If I had to stop in an emergency I wouldn't be confident that I would be able to (in a reasonable amount of space). Is this normal for the brakes to perform like this after having new discs and pads fitted? Is it a case of letting them bed in properly?

Cheers in advance

after fitting new pads and discs they recommend at least 100 miles of light braking to wear them in

Not constant light braking though :-)

It's not unusual - you're not supposed to brake heavily for at least a hundred miles to bed them in. What's your usual mileage? Their performance should pick up!
