Odd noise from the front end

I've noticed there's an odd noise coming from the front end, a fairly quiet "sh sh sh sh" type sound, disappears when I lightly press the brakes. Warped disks?

Or possibly wheel bearing. I have an occasional, similar noise and presumed warped disks but, having replaced them all, it's still $%^&* there.

I'll get national tyres to do one of their free brake checks. I think they're the most likely candidate as I got them a tad warm driving around some hilly lanes in Derbyshire. Great clouds of acrid smoke...

I'd first check the pads aren't down to the metal. And check for a stone or similar lodged in the calliper.

Ahh, don't you love that beautiful smell of cremated brake lining?

It's usually quite expensive, so not really :). Dot 5.1 and Green stuff pads coming up. I won't be keeping it long now so they needn't last forever.
