Front end noise on 98

I've been hearing an odd noise from the front end for a while now that seems to be getting worse. I took it to a dealer and while they said they could hear the noise they couldn't find anything amiss in the front end. I thought I'd try here to see if anybody has any ideas.

The noise mainly occurs as you are coming to a stop - a thud, thud, thud, thud type of noise that can be felt through the steering wheel. Can't really feel it through the brake pedal but it's hard to tell. It doesn't go away when you release the brakes and then coast to a stop but I'm fairly sure it's related to the brakes as the same noise is the last thing you hear when the truck comes to a complete stop. You know, that final thud when the brakes fully stop the wheel.

I'm wondering if this is related to wear on the front brakes - they will be need of pad replacement real soon. That would explain why the problem is getting worse...

Thanks,

I would suspect the front rotors. Did the shop that told you they couldn't find anything wrong just look ..or..mic the rotors to see if there was any run out?
