poly bushes

Anyone here replaced stock rubber bushings with the polyurethane type and if so, what difference did you notice - if any - in the comfort and handling of the vehicle?

Thanks, Jim. That's about all I need to know I reckon!

I wonder if you need to know if you need to notify your insurance company ;)

I'll echo Chris's comments as I replaced the soft rubber bushes on the Mk2 Escort based kitcar and noticed all he suggests.

As Robin says you should also notify your insurance Co. I didn't as the kitcar is already made out a plethora of different / non-standard bits. ;-)

p.s. On the bushes ... I had a couple of the original Ford rubber bushes start to perish (track control arm, steering rack, anti roll bar etc) and as the factory offerings were getting a bit more difficult to find at the time (Mk 1/2 Escorts seem to have made a bit of a revival since then), I went to Poly. Ok, everything seems to have 'tightened up' but whilst that would probably be desirable on a Westfield, it wasn't an improvement, specifically re the ride comfort for me and my Rickman shed.

However, I did also uprate the front springs and shocks ready to fit the 2L Pinto, then changed my mind (and probably going for the 1600 crossflow instead) and downgraded the front springs again but not (as yet) the front shocks. So to be fair to the Poly bushes, I may have seen less of said hardness, especially around the front end, had the front shocks still been std or had I put the Pinto in. ;-)
