Yes, but your car was actually untaxed. If plod run a plate check on a car after you've paid for it with the DVLA, the most they can do you for is failing to display - and that's only if they can be bothered pulling a car for a minor offence. In your case they would have had to come to the conclusion that you were untaxed - and a plate check would have revealed they were correct.
& even then he just got pulled, not prosecuted.

Have you seen the charges on them? Credit card is a few %, Debit card is a fixed amount, typically about 50p.
(hmm - was there something to do with the credit card being a loan and hence not suitable for a tax disc?)

Risk. With a debit card they get the money, or it doesn't go through.
With a credit card if the transaction is stopped by the payer later the PO/DVLA would have to cover the cost.
I think the charges are different too.
I guess more sub POs issue MVLs in rural locations - you are a Softie Southerner where I am :-)
