Re: 1989 VW Polo coolant change advice

Hello,

How can the heater control do anything to water flow? Just wondering as most cars I have had including the current one (1999 model) only controls the flaps that pipe the air to different places. I have never known an actual pipe to come from the engine through a tap (dashboard heater control?) and into the heater matrix before. If you flush the system out, the water will still flow no matter what the controls are set to.

The Polo has a tap that controls the hot water flow; however the tap is made of plastic and soon wears, so that hot water flows even when the tap is closed
