how do i check oil level in the autobox? I have hayns book, says to warm it up, park and check. it dont say weather the engine should be on or off. i checked with it off, and it is above the max.

It is usual to check auto fluid level with the engine fully hot, the vehicle recently driven and left running in park, while you check the level. Minor variations make little difference usually, but your vehicle has a very low gearbox oil capacity in the first place, so try to get it spot on.

yea, i know some you leave engine running, but i didnt fancy having the possible oil p'ing upwards lol. i did it hot, in park, but engine off. t was above the max then.
Autobox oil levels are nearly always checked with the engine running. When you stop the engine, the torque converter drains down, giving a false high reading.
within 1 minute of engine turned off.
