Hi..A squealing noise can be heard from my engine (Ford Escort 1600 lx

16v Zetec 1995) when starting from cold...After a while the squeal goes away...I have had the fan belt replaced...Does anyone know what this could be or had the same problem and had it corrected ? Thanks

Have they tightened it properly? You aren't starting with the lights and other electrical accessories on are you, because the extra load might not help your cause?

You really need to try to discover what it is that's squealing. Try pouring some water onto the fan belt while the squeal's there and see if it stops it or alters it in any way. If it does then at least you know where it's coming from. Otherwise, try to locate the squeal with a stethoscope made from a piece of plastic pipe stuck in your ear and the other end moved around the likely places.

If it turns out to be the belt, try tightening it.
