I've got quite a bit of rust at the bottem of my door and want to rub it down and touch up more to stop the rust than anything else.
Never done it before and not sure what to do. Do i rub it down with dry sand paper and the wet? Can i just use touch up paint or do i need a primer.
Not that much worried bout how it looks cosmetically but want to do it properly.

Rub it down with wet and dry paper, or a sanding disk in a drill. Rub out as much rust as possible. Not impossible you will find perforations in the door which will need filling and more sanding. If no perforations treat the rusty areas and the bits you have rubbed down with a rust treatment, then prime, then topcoat. Don't try and topcoat with one coat, use several coats allowing them to dry between applications. It is in the preparation that a decent job depends. Make sure there are drain holes in the bottom of the door and that they are clear.

Do bear in mind that the only way to completely remove the rust is to cut it out and patch. Anything else will only delay the rust for a while.

Depends on where the rust is coming from. If it's stone chipping etc, so on the surface of the steel it can be fixed - if it isn't too bad. If it's started on the back of the panel and found its way through to the outside, you're right.
