Hi all,
I have a minor problem with my trailer lights. When first plugged in, I have to gradually 'adjust' the position in the socket to get all trailer lights working.
The worst one is always the NS indicator, car wiring / socket is around 6 months old so very unlikely there is any wear there. Is a new plug likely to resolve this?
Sounds like a loose screw to me and it may well be the new socket where the screw has worked loose and the wire is now loose.

You might have a duff socket, but it's more likely to be a broken wire jus tbehind the strain relief on the plug, how old's the trailer?
Trailer is a few years old now, I'll check the plug when I do the socket ( if it ever stops raining )

May indeed be at a screw connection, but also worth springing open the split pins with an electricians screwdriver. What can happen with wiggling the plug to get it to fit is that these pins get squashed down so don't make contact in their sockets

That was going to be suggestion no. 2 :-)
From experience it's so easy to splay them too much and it's almost impossible to get them to close up again due to the amount of spring in them. If I ever had to splay some again I'd check which one(s) needed doing with a feeler gauge and try it after each one. A good hard shove will get the plug in but it's a hell of a job to get it out again...
