Any views please on the pump Lidl have on offer from Thursday?

After 50 years of removing sump plugs I'm tempted - if they work.

If you mean will the tube fit down the dipstick pipe, I'd be taking a caliper gauge to check since the online manual for the similar model 12 A1 doesn't make clear if 6mm is the internal or external diameter. But I have some old tube that I've checked will fit down the Focus and Fiesta it'd be used with and reckon I could cobble a join of that to the pump.

No pump is likely to remove as much in the way of particles as letting the oil flow from the sump plug when the oil is hot, but if the oil change would be neglected otherwise, then sucking the oil out is better than not changing it at all.

Bear in mind too that many vehicles require you to get underneath to get the filter changed.

Very few cars have no sump plug at all (smart cars, some mercs and Jags)

At 13 quid I will add one to my tool inventory, it would also be useful for gearbox oil changes on vehicles without a drain plug, and better than using a syringe type pump.

I have one - or similar. Painfully slow even with hot oil. Actually as much as a fiddle as doing it the ordinary way after you've cleaned the pump after use.

Ok, thanks, I'll carry on diving the sumps while I can.
