Hi

Have no picture as was driving at the time

so will do my best

Have been driving for over 40 years never seen one before

An artic tractor unit on the M1 today had a silver coloured device about 50 mm diameter attached to the hub of the offside front wheel Attached to it was a cable that went into the cab behind the drivers door

What is it?

Regards

Distance/ speed recorder. As the cable was going into the cab through a temporary fixing, maybe the tachograph was being tested in some way, though normally they're tested on a rolling road. It may have been on a magazine road test, as they use such things to check performance.
