It's got to unscrew. Spray some WD40 around the base of the rod and let some
3in1 oil run down bottom of aerial rod in the hope it will find its way to the bolt. Leave for a day or two and apply a few times. Just protect paint with a cloth while spraying, although don't think it does any harm. Try not to get WD40 on the windscreen as makes it a bit smeary.Paul J

As a last resort, I tried to bend the aerial to the desired angle. The aerial didn't bend, but some of the plastic coating around the metal aerial sheared off. A piece of insulation tape will fix this, hopefully. But a fortunate side-effect was that something loosened up in the mounting bracket. The aerial now swivels freely between angles.

That made me laugh, which was good because I've had a bit of a tough afternoon!
I'm sure there's a motto here - most on this NG can only tell you that Hyundies are s*it, wiper blades from Pound Stretcher are pants, and you do or don't need bulbs in the number plate light for an MOT. Anything more than that and you better be jolly careful with any advice received!
