OK, here goes: when i depress the clutch I get an awful grinding type noise. Coincidentally the radio stopped working and the brake light came on when the noise started. Tonight, I picked up the car from someone who could not fix the problem. Guess what: the radio works, the brake light is off and the noise is gone. Help!!!

Here in TX they might have charged you and called it fixed, even if they didn't do anything! Na, no worse here than anywhere else I suppose. Actually I had a good experience with a shop in Sam Marcos that I had to have look at one of my daughters cars this last week. It could have been ugly. Thank you Big S Automotive!

Dishonest repair shops? Nah...
My grandmother took her low-mileage '96 Accord in to the Stealership and was given an estimate of close to $1,000 a couple of years ago. I remembered it driving fine a short while before, just that the exhaust was loud for a stock Accord.
The muffler did need to be replaced. The other $800.00 of "work that needed to be done" was complete fabrication. They were talking about things like replacing a 60,000 mile alternator that was, and still is working fine, and work on CV joints that showed no signs of any problems whatsoever when I checked them. Again, two years later, still no problems from the CV joints.
God damned crooks trying to take advantage of a little old lady. I was glad to stop them on that one.
