Corvette vs Miata - long

Which car do you think would finish the Deal's Gap run first if it were to be closed off for a race, assuming that the drivers were both as equally competent as possible? That road was so twisty that it seemed to me that less weight and a shorter wheelbase would be a bigger benefit than more power and more rubber on the road, much as in the case of autocrossing.

Assuming you mean truly competent--as in track trained--the Corvette, no contest. But the driver will sweat more. With untrained drivers, the Miata...because the Vette will be wrapped around a tree and not finish, or its driver will be so scared after the first turn that he won't finish until the next day.

Well Tom, now I'm really, really green.

My S10 belched a quart of oil in just about a week, so I decided to drop in at the dealer and have that looked at. C6 (white/tan) sitting in the showroom, sticker showing $51k+. Couldn't resist taking a seat. I don't recall a factory bucket seat more comfortable than that one. I could hang around in one of those all day! The new interior is a major leap from previous models, too. This one had the 6 speed. Shifter felt good in my hand. Can't imagine what a test drive might have felt like.

On a lighter note, snuck the Miata out of the garage yesterday. That felt good too!

Enjoy!!!
