Cost of timing belt change?

What is the typical cost for having a dealership change out the timing belt?

$400 to $1200 depending on the dealership and how they do their billing. The timing belt job varies

  1. Timing belt only. Could be done for 0.
  2. new accessory belts and new valve cover gasket. -100 for the parts.
  3. new water pump. 0-125 for parts.
  4. new crankshaft and camshaft seals. -40 for parts.
  5. new idler and tensioner puller. 0-150 for parts,
  6. new thermostat -20 for the part.

Some dealers will double charge you on the labor for the extra ites, which has resulted in bills as high as $1200 being posted for comment on the net for all of the above.

So get an estimate first.
