Dura-crap battery

Washington? No. Texas? Not there, either. Ruby-throated migrate to Central America, the western species go to various places in Mexico.

Texas has sighting records for the most different species, but some species are represented by only one or two individuals since records have been kept. Southeastern Arizona has the highest number of regular breeding and migrating species, and is the only place where you can plant your butt on a bench and have a good shot at seeing 10 different species over the next hour. Mind you, the exact butt-planting location and time are critical, but I've done it.

On topic: my local O'Reilly's has the Super Start 51R72 battery that Jeff Anderson recommends for Miatas that don't get driven regularly. I think I'll buy one tomorrow.

AGMs are just not a good match for cars that sit several weeks at a time. Yes, with enough extra attention and expense you can make them work, but what's the point?

Re: the Westco. I said I've gotten 3-4 years on them. Not THAT bad, just less than I might have expected from what I read here. My Miata is driven virtually every day, so sitting for extendend periods doesn't explain it.

That is about how long I have gotten out of them too. One explanation has been the summer heat, but I have seen batteries go for 6 or 7 years quite often, mainly on other vehicles.
