Sure, unless the paint is oxydized all the way down to the primer. The paint is the same as on the body, and will respond to the standard Meguiar's 3-step process (abrasive cleaner, nutrient polish, wax).

If that's too much for you to handle, ask a local auto detailer for a quote on restoring just the hardtop.

Have you seen the new Turtle wax "Color Cure Car Polish" tthat comes in colors. I laughed when a friend told me about this, but he swears the red actually blended in to his daughter's car and it looked great when done.

I don't suppose you have ever seen a real Meguiar's shine? Makes Turtle Wax look like you used peanut butter on your paint.

If you can find it, 3M makes a couple of wax products intended for RVs and boats. The wax is a high carnuba content wax, intended for annual use. The high gloss version is used after the lower gloss version. After the wax "locks" it is really resistant to most anything. Waxing an RV or big boat is a large hassle, so the wax must be durable.

I used this on my 99, after removing all the "orange peel" from the factory paint with a fine abrasive cleaner and small polisher. The Sun in Florida and Georgia has not faded the un-clearcoated red at all, even after four years.
